Celluloid is a young and energetic, yet experienced VFX company based in Berlin. In the summer of 2008, we got off to a running start, as we opened our doors by landing Underworld 3, a big Hollywood feature film project containing hordes of vampires, scores of werewolves and our contribution, creating and integrating the CG blood – a fine beginning and soon followed by more high-profile feature film productions. The core of our team shares many years of experience in feature film and commercials, and, needless to say, this is where our hearts lie. Whatever the project may be, we can offer a wide range of services and know-how, all tweaked to the needs of your project and delivered exactly as you request them. Ranging from render farm to proprietary project database, our studio fulfills the requirements needed to handle and realize big-scale VFX projects on an international level.                                                                                                                                                                           Being a new company, we’ve had the chance to build up a state-of-the-art pipeline, basing our infrastructure on the latest technologies. Solely 64-bit operating systems, very fast and reliable servers, workstations and networks are our core components for effective work. Dedicated project management where all relevant information converges in our inhouse MySQL database is another key feature. Our image pipeline is based on an unclamped OpenEXR layer workflow. Thus we are able to maintain all the beautiful pixel values in the picture – from input, through 3D rendering and compositing to final output – at all times still being able to tweak different aspects of our renders, like reflections or global illumination, independently. Packages we use include: 3ds Max, Nuke, RealFlow, ZBrush, Silhouette and V-Ray for rendering.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                As important as it is to have a solid pipeline to push shots through and stay organized, we know that the final image is what counts. At the end of the day, having “an eye” for the image is key for the success of any project. That is why we keep close attention to detail and quality of the images we produce. “Art meeting technology“ is how we understand our work. All projects are screened on our 2K projector, giving clients and artists the possibility to regularly review and enjoy the results in a real cinematic experience.
